This section is basically the same as a Blog, only for our purposes we'll call it "HoverLogs." The section has been divided into three categories depending on what subject you would like to report about.

Here's the three categories:

General Discussion - Just like it sounds, if you have anything of interest to report upon or a question to ask to the group this would be a good category to choose.

CruiseLogs - This is where you would report on cruising events.

ProjectLogs - If you're working on a hovercraft project this is the place to report on your progress. For members with existing websites, this is an opportunity to list short updates and links to your site. However, if you don't already have your own established website and you might be interested in publishing your own personal "Build Diary" please visit our new Builder's Corner.

Wabash Cannonball Cruise Print E-mail

Spend Labor Day weekend (September 4-5) with us on the Wabash Cannonball Cruise!
The cruise takes place on the Wabash River from Kimmell Park in Vincennes, IN.
The Wabash River flows freely for 411 of it's 475 mile length, making it the
longest stretch of free-flowing river in the United States east of the
Mississippi River.

This site is right on the river and has ample camping with electric, restroom,
and shower facilities. It is also located just 1.5 miles upriver from the George
Rogers Clark National Historical Park. This year the event falls two weeks
before Hoverally - so this would be a great opportunity to put some miles in on
your hover before the national rally. If you're in the Indiana/Illinois/Kentucky
area it's not that far of a trip for you!

More details at:

Hope to see you there!

Small craft single engine theory Print E-mail
General Discussion
Written by Dennis Stickles

Hey guys. I have been spending some time thinking about how to power the 14p that I plan to start building this week. I have watched a few available video's of them running and read all of the reports on issues with working out the bugs. It seems to me (correct me if I'm wrong) that they still seem to suffer from being just a bit tail heavy as do most of the craft. I am wanting to build this one because it's foam and simple and light and did I say foam? Yah, I have only built 2 wood crafts. I want to try a foam craft.

Anyway got sidetracked there. So my question is this after doing all of my research, why can't we put the engine in the front and power the thrust prop from the front of the craft? The only argument I can come up with is that the belt may slip when wet but we arent talking about a lot of power here and there would be 4 tensioners to help keep it tight. Has anyone thought of this before? And a variator could still be installed with the variator acting more as a thrust throttle.

Seems to make some sense to me. Anyone have any thoughts on this? Give me your input please.

Thanks Dennis
