Things are warming up and thawing out up here in Northern Wisconsin. Soon I will be able to go forward with full out build mode for the main structure of the 18SPW. Until then i have been working on the smaller stuff. I guess I am building in reverse from what seems to be the usual order... Engine and drive...Thrust duct.. and now thrust prop and lift fan.
I am outlining a simple photo summary here as I have detailed my methods here before in my "Northern Exposure " build diary. By the way the 14P is now listed for sale here on this site in the classified section. I will recycle the investment there to complete this new build. It will however be hard to see it go one day
Ok, so I clamped up the blanks. The prop is a 60-53 pitch and the fan a 34-28 pitch. I used clear pine and epoxy for the laminate. There other other good and cheaper glues to be used but I went with the epoxy mainly for the long open time it gives. Gluing and clamping can get quite stressful for me.
Here we are with everything cut, sanded and ready to to go............

And now all clamped up..........................

Clamps off. The finished big blocks of wood....

Next drew out all the important cut lines, sawed all my stations and chipped all the waste, making a HUGE MESS!!......

Here now after taking the Angle grinder and Belt sander to the work is the finished roughed out prop. Very satisfying...

Well now i will just need to repeat for the fan and then finish shaping the leading edge profiles all around , glass and balance. I will post up some pictures when we get there.

glad to see you are making some progress ,you have more patience than I do to build props and fans.I hope you get what you ask for your 14p ,for anyone who gets one with all the bugs worked is getting a bargain

Looking good!!
I have today and tomorrow off. Today it was almost to warm to work in the driveway. Tomorrow back in the garage and maybe a fire to keep warm.

Well it looks like you are fully committed on the new build. Props are looking great as I know they wood with your talent and the way your other craft looks.Your 14 should be a easy sell it is top quality and the person that buy's it will get a top quality constructed craft that's for sure. When are you going to start the new hull? If you need any help just let me know your just a stones throw away and I am retired so any day any time.
If you sell the 14 I suppose we wont see you at Muscoda? You know you still can come down an BS, drink beer and teach Terry how to play the Guitar, and just have plane old fun with the group.
